MultiCanimefan

What we subconsciously listen to.

Song: Good Girls Go Bad by Cobra Starship.

Lyrics(italics) along with analysis(bold):

I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go
Good girls go bad

The chorus implies losing ones virtues, values, and ethics through semi-forceful coercion.

I know your type
(Your type)
You're daddy's little girl
Just take a bite
(One bite)

The "Just do it" attitude. Don't ask any questions, just take the bait.

Let me shake up your world
'Cause just one night couldn't be so wrong
I'm gonna make you lose control

Obvious implication of "Do it, it's just one time, it couldn't hurt" while ignoring the very real consequences of even one such encounter and action. In the verse "I'm gonna make you lose control," he's implying through the word "make" that it's not her decision and is being forced.

She was so shy
Till I drove her wild

Not only does he forcefully "make her lose control," he also deliberately seeks out to destroy her "shyness," or innocence, against her will for the sake of fulfilling his own pleasures. Why not just let her be shy if she hasn't decided to do anything about it? How does he know what's good for her?

I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go bad
You were hanging in the corner
With your five best friends
You heard that I was trouble
But you couldn't resist
I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go
Good girls go bad

The verses "You heard that I was trouble" and "But you couldn't resist" are spoken from the perspective of the male. He says that "You heard that I was trouble," yet nowhere in the song do we hear someone else talk to the girl about him. No, he's shifting the blame from himself onto people who he claims were gossiping. "But you couldn't resist" is interesting, as she has yet to do or say anything. How can she refuse to resist if she hasn't even been introduced to him yet or has yet to even speak in the song? This is a classic example of him "leading" her to accept what he wants to do; to persuade her. Also notice how the repetition eases the middle of the lyrics, helping them mesh.

I know your type
(Your type)
Boy, you're dangerous
Yeah, you're that guy
(That guy)
I'd be stupid to trust
But just one night couldn't be so wrong
You make me wanna lose control

Here she is telling us that she distrusts, wrongfully, by the way, her own intuition and gut feeling, but goes right on ahead and gives in to his persuasion regardless of her conscience. She's even acknowledging that he's a pretty shady character and would be stupid to trust, but hey, it's just one night right? What could go wrong? How many things can you name that you've done that you knew were stupid and went against your common sense? Not many, hopefully, but that's exactly what she's doing here. Notice how she says "You make me wanna lose control" after he says that he will, implying his hold over her has already taken effect. Now she's just saying what he's suggested and believes that she wants it.

She was so shy
Till I drove her wild

Again, forceful coercion.

I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go bad
I was hanging in the corner
With my five best friends
I heard that you were trouble
But I couldn't resist
I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go
Good girls go bad
Good girls go bad
Good girls go bad

Subtle difference in the lyrics here. "I heard that you were trouble" and "But I couldn't resist" are spoken from the perspective of the female. Notice how she proclaims her desire AFTER he tells her she couldn't resist and AFTER he overrides her gut feelings and common sense. Notice again the repetition sandwiching the middle lyrics.

Oh, she got away with the boys in the place
Treat 'em like they don't stand a chance
And he got away with the girls in the back
Acting like they're too hot to dance
Yeah, she got away with the boys in the place
Treat 'em like they don't stand a chance
And he got away with the girls in the back
Acting like they're too hot to dance

Pretty self-explanatory here. Implying that both men and women are easy to manipulate and to treat them in stereotypical ways.

I make them good girls go bad
(They don't stand a chance)
I make them good girls go
The good girls go bad, yeah
Good girls go bad
I was hanging in the corner
With my five best friends
I thought that you were trouble
But I couldn't resist

Pay attention to the even more subtle change in these verses. Now it's "I THOUGHT you were trouble." Before this, she knew he was trouble. Now after his coercion, she's unsure of herself. Always confuse someone when you want something, they'll blame themselves instead of you.

I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go bad
I make them good girls go
Good girls go bad
Good girls go bad
Good girls go

More and more repetition to drive the point home.

No wonder the song is so popular, eh?

Finally, pictures from my house-cleaning job!

Posted by MultiCanimefan Jun. 1, 2009 @ 6:47 PM EDT

When I first arrived at this place, I had no idea what to expect. Then I was led to the backyard (picture taken from the second floor) and the basement. Needless to say, I was mind fucked.

First, we tackled the basement, and it was quite a challenge pulling out sand-filled buckets, gallons of water and paint, boxes, chairs, chests and big suitcases, and all other sorts of big and heavy and messy shit from the small window. After filling up dumpster 2 (we used about 8 or 9 for the whole house over the course of 3 to 4 weeks), here are the results of our labor: #1 #2.

After completing the basement, we then proceeded to clean out the first, second, and third floors, but that'll be for the next update so here's a preview: 2nd floor, the stairs leading from the 2nd to the 3rd floor, and the 3rd floor.

I've never seen something like this in my life, and I couldn't have made it up.
